PLP Knowsley - New Entrance

Client: PLP Properties

Value: £205,000

Programme: 12 weeks

Challenge: Construction of new bell mouth entrance roadway to a proposed 800,000 sq.ft distribution development with heavy road traffic, a single entrance to one way system of a large industrial estate and works taking palce on tight road bend.

Solution: Moss Lane is a busy and main arterial route for road traffic serving Knowsley Business and Industrial Parks. The works were carefully staged in four phases ensuring all traffic movements were maintained without road closure. This enabled us to complete the drainage, mains sewer connections, kerbing and road surfacing without disruption to local facilities. Complying with strict Council working hours we could complete the contract with very little disruption with local retailers and residents.

Client benefits:

Sterling completed the contract on time and now, with the careful and strategic planting of shrubs and bushes, showcases the site for future tenants and investors.

The project was not without its challenges. The new bell mouth crossed over a series of high/extra high voltage cables, water and telecommunication services. As the contract was started early November, a works embargo was placed on us by the service providers meaning there could be no service disruption or diversions permitted. With the tight restrictions imposed upon us and close liaison with the service providers and designers, we were able to lower and protect all services with no disruption.

The success of the project was apportioned to the clear and concise communications between Sterling, the client, designers, service providers and Knowsley Council.

“Sterling Services won a tender to carry out some key infrastructure works for PLP on a large, strategic development site in Knowsley. We found them to be competitive, very pragmatic and they shared our vision for delivering benefits for local businesses and workers. They finished on programme and we were extremely happy with the results. I’m hopeful we can work together again in the near future”.........................
