Certas Energy Three Cocks - New Depot

Client: Certas Energy

Value: £850,000

Programme: 35 weeks

Challenge: The client required a full redevelopment of their existing dated fuel storage depot located in the Brecon Beacons. The employer’s requirements were for the design and construction of a new fuel storage facility including non-permeable bund, filling and offloading point, parking facilities and a new permanent office structure to replace the current outdated portacabin style office.

Solution: Being vastly experienced in civils for the fuel industry and with a fantastic tried and tested materials supply chain, Sterling was able to complete the civil engineering element of the project completely in house, to a very high standard whilst also being the most competitively priced bidder to the client. Works were completed to a very tight and non-negotiable deadline to accommodate the arrival of the new fuel storage tanks and associated mechanical pipework. In keeping with local buildings and in accordance with the planning conditions, the new office building was completely designed and constructed by with the help of our trusted network of specialist subcontractors under full management of supervision of Sterling. Again, Sterling was able to offer the most cost-effective solution to the office building in a competitive tender, keeping costs down through careful management and efficient organisation of the various trades and utilising our own labour where possible.

Client benefits: We provided our client with the most cost-effective submission in a competitive tendering situation. Having worked with Certas Energy for many years, they were fully aware of our high standard of work and our ability to bring projects in on or ahead of schedule. We provided a client with a fixed price and removed any risk to them of cost overruns whilst also handling the design aspects of the office building.
