Challenge: Sterling Services have been awarded the tender for a phased installation of rewire and lighting throughout the Eastcroft Primary School. Qualified electricians with the required Health and safety certifications along with the DBS requirement to work with vulnerable people and children was an important factor for this customer.
We faced several challenges heading into this project, COVID-19 being at the top of our list due to numerous small area installation requirements. Children have also been in attendance at the school on an erratic schedule which posed planning challenges.
Solution: Sterling’s solution is attention to detail and constant overview of phased planning pertaining to this project. Areas were measured in accordance with the install (material) requirement and time allocated for the area. Teams were divided to suit the area requirement in line with social distancing regulations to ensure we work within the guidelines throughout the duration of this project. We opted to work around areas where children and staff were gathered and prepared the install in such a way that these areas will be able to be completed on weekends and when the school is closed down to avoid any chance of contact. Sterling Services understand the responsibility to our community and therefore ensure that all operatives have the correct Health and Safety training as well as the DBS checks required when working with vulnerable people and children.
Client benefit: Planning and constantly reviewing our schedules to ensure a safe environment and consistent workflow on this project has provided peace of mind for our valued customer. Flexibility to work around school holidays to ensure the maximum amount of installations can take place while the schools are closed also works in the customer's favour. Our customer can rest assured that all electricians are qualified within their requirements allowing the customer to focus on other aspects of the project execution.
