Liverpool Hope University

The client: Liverpool Hope University has a strong tradition of scholarship and research spanning 175 years. Split across two busy campuses Hope Park and The Creative Campus both sites have seen major investment so traditional architecture sits beside contemporary buildings and facilities.

The challenge: The university has two busy campuses that remain open all year and a variety of new and traditional buildings all requiring planned and reactive electrical maintenance, meeting all legal requirements, year round.

The solution: We appointed a team and team leader alongside a dedicated member of our maintenance admin team to manage and coordinate all work. Alongside juggling a high flow of daily tasks between campus sites we also introduced better planning and coordination processes including sectional planning to minimise disruption to staff and students.

The benefits we bring:  Our processes and data capturing allow the university to access and sign off quotations quickly and track job progress. By being flexible and identifying and planning work we can move quickly between jobs avoiding interruptions to students and staff. Our knowledge of the university and its people allows us to spot potential problems on campus and track legal requirements with emergency lighting and other systems.

Dave Kerry - Estates Service Manager: “Liverpool Hope University Estates Department has used Sterling Services for a number of years. They are the university’s main electrical contractor for both large and small projects. Their rates are very competitive for their sector. An important factor in any contractor the university use regularly is flexibility, if there are any changes on variations, Sterling responds quickly. Importantly, we have never had any issues in regard to Health and Safety, their Construction Care Plan (CPP) is detailed, and their operatives follow these plans. I would recommend the electrical division of Sterling Services to other organisations."
