project overview

Women in Construction at Tyldesley Town Hall

On 4th July 2024, the women of Sterling—Elizabeth Roberts, Tia Moran, Caitlin Highfield, and Donna Patton—delivered a motivational talk to students in Wigan, aimed at showcasing the various career opportunities available in construction. The session was designed to highlight not only the diverse range of roles in the industry but also to emphasize that women have an equal place in construction, an industry traditionally dominated by men.

THE TALKS

The Discussion

Each speaker shared personal insights from their own careers, offering a unique perspective on their journey into the field. The talk touched on how each of them found their path in construction and how they navigated challenges along the way.

A key part of the discussion was dedicated to showcasing the apprenticeship opportunities offered by Sterling. The speakers highlighted the practical benefits of apprenticeships, from hands-on training to gaining industry-recognized qualifications while earning a salary.

The talk concluded with an empowering message that construction is no longer a “man’s world.” Women have made and continue to make significant contributions to the industry.
