project overview

For the Longton Health Centre project, our team successfully completed essential external improvement works to enhance accessibility and safety for patients and staff.

The scope of work involved uplifting the existing paving stone surfaces around the health centre and extending the footpaths, increasing their width to accommodate higher foot traffic. To improve safety and manage parking, we installed parking restriction bollards at key locations. Finally, we reinstated the footpaths using tarmac, creating a flat, even surface to eliminate trip hazards and ensure a smooth, hazard-free environment for all visitors.

Challenges

The Challenges & Changes

One of the primary challenges faced during the project was coordinating and managing pedestrian access routes and maintaining clear fire escapes, all while working in a live, operational environment. Ensuring minimal disruption to the daily functions of the health centre was crucial, as the site remained fully open to patients and staff throughout the construction period. This required careful planning and phased works to keep key walkways accessible at all times, while adhering to strict health and safety regulations.
