The Challenges & Changes

The original scope of work for Booker Avenue Junior School focused on repairing the existing brickwork and parapets, refurbishing the roof, and undertaking internal refurbishment. However, upon commencing on-site works and completing the internal strip-out, significant structural issues were uncovered. The internal blockwork was found to be in a poor structural state, requiring an unanticipated shift in approach. To ensure safety, a robust propping system was installed to support and stabilize the roof structure, especially against windy conditions. The defective walls necessitated a complete demolition and reconstruction process, including the installation of brand-new windows. These unforeseen challenges required adaptability and meticulous planning to deliver a safe, durable, and high-quality result while maintaining project continuity.
